INFIRA and FUNGIPOR, big winners of the Green Solutions Awards 2024
Buenos Aires, September 9, 2024 – On September 5, the awards ceremony for the second edition of the Green Solutions Awards was held, an Argentine-Israeli distinction in sustainable development. The event, organized by Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (KKL) Argentina and the Argentine-Israeli Chamber of Commerce (CCAI), with the support of the Embassy of Israel in the Argentine Republic, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and collaborating companies, seeks to promote technological collaboration and the transfer of knowledge between institutions and companies of both countries in areas of technology and sustainability.
This year, INFIRA was awarded the First Prize for the development of prototypes of perennial crops suitable for new agricultural production models. INFIRA will receive $1,500,000 to continue developing its project, as well as the opportunity to travel to Israel to participate in meetings with local companies, incubators, research centers and universities, exploring future collaborations.
The Second Prize went to Fungipor, a company that is revolutionizing the materials industry with its development of fungus-based biomaterials, contributing to the reduction of the use of non-biodegradable plastics. Fungipor will receive $750,000 and the opportunity to participate in a virtual agenda of meetings with key players in Israel’s innovation ecosystem.
Of the more than 40 projects submitted, 7 were shortlisted for their innovative nature, their environmental impact and the economic and technical viability of their solutions: Abriga, Reemplazo, Infira, Esten 80, Moogreen Technologies, Fungipor and Einsted. In addition to the main winners, special mentions were given to the following projects:
- Esten 80, for its bioinsecticide and acaricide intended for Integrated Pest Management in various crops that allows the production of food free of pesticide residues.
- Abriga, dedicated to transforming coarse wool with no textile value into thermal and acoustic insulation blankets to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and interior comfort.
Thanks to the support of Dreicon, Home Biogas, TechCom, Ecoklin, Sobol and the Council of Economic Sciences for the commitment to the development of technological solutions that address the most urgent environmental challenges.
